Welcome to our Riding Lessons!

We offer Mindfulness Riding Lessons for ALL AGES & ALL DISIPLINES of riding. No matter if its riding down the trail to the most intense show classes, our lessons encourage, improve & challenge you to become the best rider & communicator to your horse that you can become!

Mindfulness is a state of being, a way of looking at challenges and at life. Let us show you how, no matter your age, no matter your level of riding, how we can help you acheive your equestrian riding goals thru this unique & proven approach!
Riding Requirements
Safety is our number one concern at Ricigliano Farms.
The following requirements are in place for your safety and comfort. Any questions please email or call us !

Lessons are approx 45 mins to 1 hour long, they include the rider learning about and tacking up their own horse, riding and cooling & putting away their horse. Western -English/Hunt -Trail

Long Pants (Jeans or Breeches preferred) NO shorts, NO sweats, NO Leggings.

Close toed shoes (boots with a heel preferred)  NO Sandals , NO Slip On Shoes .

An ASTM certifed helmet with a chin strap is required for ANY rider under the age of 18 riding at Ricigliano Farms. A helmet may be borrowed for the introduction level students.
It is a Required Purchase for Level One Riders and above.

  1. Introduction 101
    Introduction 101
    Introduction 101 lessons are for those interested in horses. This would be for those who haven't ridden or have had just a few lessons but are not confident around horses either on the ground or in the saddle. These lessons will cover safety, basic grooming, diet, exercise and care of the horse and beginning riding.
  2. Level One
    Level One
    This is the beginning of horsemanship. These lessons are tailored to basic walk, trot and canter. Students learn balance, cadence, how to control their horse with their body weight and become an independent rider thru lessons, drills and exercises.
  3. Level Two
    Level Two
    This is where equestrians are created. Walk , trot and canter are mastered at this point and the hand gallop and extended gallop are introduced as well as a more independent seat from the hands. The rider learns how to ask for shoulders in / out, haunches in /out, extended and collected gaits are asked for and ridden. Two Point position should be stable at this point and if the rider is in the hunter/jumper program low level jumps are introduced.

  1. Trail Riding
    Trail Riding
    Trail Riding is as important as any "formal" riding lesson... learning to negotiate road hazards, items that may spook the horse, communicating thru difficult situations. This is a great lesson set to improve general riding and enjoyment of your horse! Riding lessons are in the ring and on the trail.
  2. Parent & Me

    These are riding lessons tailored for the adult and the child to learn together! Its great when the love of horses is shared between a parent and a child. These lessons cover basic horse handling on the ground to riding the horse in a family situation ~ together!
  3. Advanced
    Advanced
    Advanced Riding lessons are for those students who are confident in their riding, can walk , trot, canter ( walk , jog, lope) and gallop with extreme control. At this level the rider may be getting ready to enter competition or may be ready to begin riding over jumps or perfecting their show ring presence. Coaching of the student is usual at this stage.

    We are very proud to offer a Ladies' Sidesaddle Riding Lesson Program. Aside lessons are getting more and more rare to find offered. The elegance, romance, security and the betterment of your communication with your horse, cannot be beat when riding aside! This now "almost rare" form of riding is one of the most secure and unique ways for Ladies to enjoy their horses in their own unique fashion! Instruction in sidesaddle is given by Lori Ricigliano who has not only judged, ridden, jumped and showed in sidesaddle for over 30 years, but she also prefers to trail ride in her sidesaddle because of the stability and uniqueness it offers. English Sidesaddle lessons are available now, Western Sidesaddle lessons beginning in October 2017 ! If you ever thought of trying ...NOW is the time. English or Western tailored lessons are provided on our sidesaddle lesson horses that are correctly fitted in our provided sidesaddles. Do not delay ..
